A useful reference
What a quality mark tells you
Qualmark assessments help travellers compare tourism businesses across New Zealand. Participating businesses are reviewed against criteria covering important parts of the visitor experience, such as safety, cleanliness, service and sustainability practices.
A mark is a starting point rather than a substitute for checking the details of a particular stay or activity. Consider location, facilities, accessibility, operating conditions and what is included before you book.
Accommodation ratings
Quality-assured accommodation can include hotels, motels, lodges, holiday parks, bed and breakfasts and other places to stay. Ratings are intended to give travellers a consistent point of reference when comparing facilities and service.
Look at the property’s current information for room types, amenities, arrival arrangements and any conditions that may affect your plans.
Activities and transport
Quality information can also help when choosing visitor activities and ways to get around. Whether you are considering a guided walk, a scenic experience, a coach journey or another service, read the operator’s current description and confirm suitability for your group.
Sustainability award levels
Qualmark’s sustainability framework uses three award levels. The descriptions below explain the broad progression represented by each level.
